One possible fix for "unable to detect device" on Windows

Not a question but rather a solution that I found when trying to diagnose “0 connected devices”

I had at one time installed Teamviewer which had installed a device driver with an expired digital signature. This device was being loaded as the Generic PNP driver for monitors, and it was loading in an error state because of the signature. It was loading the TVMoniter.sys driver, an outdated and unwanted Teamviewer driver.

If your looking glass display shows as a generic PNP monitor, and it has an error/warning icon overlay then update the driver in Device Manager

Run Device Manager from the System control panel applet
Select your errored monitor
Right click and select “Update Drivers”
Select "browse my computer for driver software"Select “Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer”
Select “Generic PnP Monitor”
Click next to install

Haven’t seen this problem before, interesting to know, and thanks for detailing your solution! I’ll add this to our tracking to investigate a bit, I’m not entirely sure why this would happen.
